Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (See Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is opposite the chain drive direction (See Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing on the side plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head to the recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the recommendations in the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (See Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor/local dealer or check the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use could result in serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle originally came with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will position itself correctly (See Fig. A).
