• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain's driving direction (see Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow your motorcycle owner's manual recommendation. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle comes with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, position the new chain in place (see Fig. A).
