• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link prior to joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end faces away from the chain's drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing on the side plates. For Rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to precisely press fit the connecting link plates and accurately flare the pin head following our guidelines. For adjusting chain sag, consult the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load should be 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always confirm the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle by consulting your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart. Incorrect selection and use can lead to serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle features an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will be correctly positioned (see Fig. A).
