• Expert Selection & Installation Guide

For seamless performance, we highly advise lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For Clip type links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (refer to Fig. C). The FJ connecting link includes Press Fit Outer Plates which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing on the side plates. To install Rivet type links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the plates and accurately rivet the pin head, following our specified flare dimensions. For adjusting chain sag, follow your motorcycle owner's manual guidelines. Standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• Expert Selection & Installation Guide

1. Always consult with your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are appropriate for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool for optimal results.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to correctly install the new chain (see Fig. A).
