• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly advise lubricating the new connecting link before linking both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain's drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates securely. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and accurately flare the pin head as per our guidelines. To adjust the chain sag, consult your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load should be 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle by consulting your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart. Incorrect selection and use may lead to severe damage or injury.

2. To remove the old chain, cut it at its joint part. For motorcycles with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to correctly position the new chain (Fig. A).
