• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (See Fig. B). For clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (See Fig. C). FJ type links have Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for side plate attachment. For rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to the recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, refer to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag, with the rider's load, is 10 mm (See Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or check the SFR chain catalog or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (See Fig. A).
