• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type requires the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper press-fit outer plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to precisely fit the connecting link plates and flare the pin head to our recommended dimensions. Adjust chain sag according to your motorcycle owner's manual for optimal performance. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Ensure proper selection: Consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify compatibility. Improper selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Removal: Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar device to cut it.

3. Installation: Attach the new chain to the old one with a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (see Fig. A).
