• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend you lubricate the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type requires Press Fit Outer Plates, best installed with the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool. For rivet-type links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool for precise installation, ensuring the pin head flares according to our specifications. Adjust the chain sag as per the motorcycle's manual, with the standard load sag set at 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Consult your distributor, local dealer, the SFR chain catalogue, or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar device.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into place (Fig. A).
