Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We emphatically advise lubricating the new connecting link before uniting both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end faces opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type link has Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates effectively. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the link plates and accurately rivet the pin head to our specified flare dimensions. Adjust the chain sag as per the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify whether this chain and connecting link suit your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain (refer to Fig. A).
