• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance, we highly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the chain (see Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite the drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper installation. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. Always adjust the chain sag according to your motorcycle owner's manual, with a standard sag of 10 mm when loaded (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult with your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. To remove the old chain, cut it at the joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to guide the new chain into position (see Fig. A).
