• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend that you lubricate the new connecting link before joining the ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip Type Connecting Link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For Rivet Type Connecting Link (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, please follow the recommendations in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Ensure you consult with your distributor or local dealer, or reference the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may cause significant damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle came with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet Type Connecting Link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the old one's end using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
