• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end faces opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type has Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the plates and accurately rivet the pin head to the recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure compatibility of the chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar device.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a fresh connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (see Fig. A).
