• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B for detailed guidance). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C for clarification). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates necessitating the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool, which ensures precision when pressing on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions, ensuring superior fit and function. For chain sag adjustment, strictly adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is precisely 10 mm (see Fig. D for exact measurement).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify the suitability of this chain and connecting link for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool for efficiency and accuracy.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link, ensuring a seamless transition. Rotate the rear wheel to correctly position the new chain (refer to Fig. A for visual guidance).
