• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the link plates and accurately rivet the pin head according to the recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations, maintaining a standard chain sag of 10 mm under the rider's load (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify suitability for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one with a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain (refer to Fig. A).
