Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link prior to joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates, which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press the side plates firmly. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head to our specified flare dimensions. When adjusting chain sag, follow the guidance in the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's weight is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are appropriate for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to significant damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent tool to cut it.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one with a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (refer to Fig. A).
