• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating any new connecting link prior to connecting both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end faces away from the chain's drive direction (refer to Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates properly. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely flare the rivet pin head to our recommended dimensions. Additionally, for chain sag adjustment, adhere strictly to the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with rider load is approximately 10 mm (refer to Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and usage can result in serious damage or injury.

2. Begin by cutting the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle features an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will naturally come into position (refer to Fig. A).
