• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), the open end of the clip must be set opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit connecting link plates and precisely rivet pin heads by the recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the recommendation in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Ensure to consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm whether this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may cause serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Fit the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
