• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance and longevity of your motorcycle chain, we highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the chain (refer to Fig. B). When using a Clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link includes Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper attachment. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool will ensure precise press-fitting of the link plates and accurate riveting of the pin head to our specified flare dimensions. To adjust chain sag, always follow the motorcycle owner's manual guidelines. The recommended standard chain sag, with the rider's weight considered, is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. It is essential to consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. To remove the old chain, cut it at the joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain properly (refer to Fig. A).
