• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating any new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (See Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces in the opposite direction of chain travel (See Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper installation. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head to our recommended flare dimensions. To adjust chain sag, follow your motorcycle owner's manual guidelines. Standard chain sag, when loaded, should be 10 mm (See Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool for cutting.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will be correctly positioned (See Fig. A).
