• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance and safety, it is imperative to lubricate a new connecting link before securing both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). When using a Clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for accurate side plate pressing. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to meticulously press-fit connecting link plates and rivet the pin head to the recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustments, adhere to the guidelines provided in the motorcycle owner's manual. Typically, the standard chain sag with the rider's load is about 10 mm (as shown in Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and application may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Detach the old chain at its joint. For motorcycles equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (see Fig. A).
