• SELECTION & INSTALLATION GUIDE

We highly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before attaching both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For a clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press the side plates. For the rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately flare the rivet pin head to the recommended dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the recommendations in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION GUIDE

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Remove the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will be perfectly positioned (Fig. A).
