• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining the ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end is set opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to secure the side plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to expertly press fit the link plates and accurately flare the rivet pin head as per our recommended dimensions. Additionally, adjust the chain sag according to the motorcycle owner's manual, maintaining a standard sag of 10 mm with rider load (see Fig. D).

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify chain and connecting link compatibility with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Remove the existing chain at the joint. For motorcycles with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar device.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old chain using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will align into position (see Fig. A).
