Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For a clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link comes with Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For a rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. Standard chain sag with riders' load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may lead to serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will be guided into position (see Fig. A).
