• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper installation. For rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to precisely fit the connecting link plates and flare the pin head to our recommended dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag, with rider load, should be 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool for the task.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (see Fig. A).
