• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). Clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ): The open end of the clip must be set opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ): Use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head, following our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link suit your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will align into position (Fig. A).
