• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite to the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For a rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely flare the pin head to the recommended dimensions. For adjusting chain sag, follow the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag under load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Consult your distributor, local dealer, or check the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can cause serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will be positioned correctly (Fig. A).
