• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

To ensure optimal performance and durability, we highly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (as illustrated in Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to secure the side plates firmly. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. When adjusting chain sag, adhere to the guidelines in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is approximately 10 mm (refer to Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Make sure to consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can result in significant damage or injury.

2. Carefully cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will smoothly move into position (see Fig. A).
