• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend that you lubricate a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that must be installed using the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and flare the pin head to the precise dimensions we recommend. To adjust chain sag, adhere to the guidelines in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's load should be 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (Fig. A).
