• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite to the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, necessitating the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, refer to the recommendations in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use may cause severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will move into place (Fig. A).
