Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend thoroughly lubricating the new connecting link before merging both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link comes with Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For adjusting the chain sag, follow the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify whether this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain (refer to Fig. A).
