Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend that you lubricate a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For the clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure that the open end of the clip is set opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link comes with Press Fit Outer Plates which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For the rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to the flare dimensions recommended. For chain sag adjustment, follow the guidelines in the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may result in serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will come into position (Fig. A).
