• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend you lubricate the new connecting link before attaching both ends of the chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip opposes the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type requires pressing the outer plates with the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to correctly press fit the plates and precisely flare the pin head as per our specifications. For chain sag adjustment, refer to your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection or usage can cause severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle uses an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will be set in place (Fig. A).
