• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to secure the side plates. For Rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to precisely press fit the connecting link plates and rivet the pin head to our specified flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the guidelines in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag, when loaded with riders, is 10 mm (illustrated in Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Remove the old chain at its joint section. If your motorcycle originally has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will align into position (see Fig. A).
