Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite to the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head as per our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders should be 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm that the chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will be positioned correctly (Fig. A).
