• Selection & Installation

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For a clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head to the recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• Selection & Installation

1. Ensure to consult your distributor or local dealer, or review the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle features an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
