• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend you lubricate a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the guidelines in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Fit the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
