• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Reliable Motorcycle Timing Chain 25H and Sprocket Kit, we highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before assembly (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain's drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link's Press Fit Outer Plates necessitate the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper side plate assembly. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to precisely press fit the connecting link plates and flare the pin head as per our detailed guidelines. Always refer to the motorcycle owner's manual for chain sag adjustment, which should be 10 mm with rider load (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify the compatibility of the chain and connecting link with your motorcycle by consulting your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Remove the old chain at its joint section. If your motorcycle uses an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a comparable cutting instrument.

3. Secure the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, you will ensure the new chain is correctly positioned (see Fig. A).
