• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper installation. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head as per our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the recommendations in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle uses an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
