Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end is opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and rivet the pin head precisely according to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the motorcycle owner's manual guidelines. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm whether this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (refer to Fig. A).
