Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend that you lubricate the new connecting link prior to joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the motorcycle owner's manual guidelines. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify the suitability of this chain and connecting link for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle features an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to properly position the new chain (refer to Fig. A).
