• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For a Clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, please follow the recommendations specified in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Ensure to consult your distributor or local dealer, or verify with the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm if this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Fit the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into the correct position (Fig. A).
