• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your new chain, we highly advise lubricating the new connecting link before joining the ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain's drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type features Press Fit Outer Plates, necessitating the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to secure the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and accurately flare the pin head according to our specifications. Adjust chain sag by consulting your motorcycle owner's manual, with a standard chain sag under rider load being 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to verify the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a comparable cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, ensure the new chain is correctly positioned (Fig. A).
