Product Usage

 

• CHOOSING & MOUNTING

We highly advise lubricating the new connecting link prior to joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain drive direction (refer to Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link requires Press Fit Outer Plates, necessitating the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for accurately pressing on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to properly press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For adjusting chain sag, follow the motorcycle owner's manual guidelines. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is set at 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• CHOOSING & MOUNTING

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify whether this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Remove the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle features an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Connect the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to properly position the new chain (see Fig. A).
