• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces the opposite direction of the chain drive (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates, necessitating the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to securely press the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For adjusting chain sag, follow the guidelines in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Be sure to consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle originally came with an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
