• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance, we highly advise lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (refer to Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates securely. For Rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and rivet the pin head accurately as per our recommended flare dimensions. Adjust chain sag according to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify with your distributor, local dealer, or by referencing the SFR chain catalog or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. For motorcycles with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain properly (see Fig. A).
