• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining the ends of your new chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type requires SFR's Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing on the side plates due to its Press Fit Outer Plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool for a precise fit and rivet pin head flare according to our specifications. For adjusting chain sag, adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the existing chain at its joint. If an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ) is present, use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into place (Fig. A).
