Product Usage

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance, we highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before securing the chain ends (Fig. B). When using a clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). For the FJ type, which requires Press Fit Outer Plates, use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to secure side plates firmly. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool is essential for precise riveting of pin heads to our specified flare dimensions. Adjust chain sag following the motorcycle owner's manual, with a standard sag of 10 mm under rider load (Fig. D).

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Ensure that the chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle by consulting your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart. Improper selection or use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. To remove the old chain, cut it at its joint. For motorcycles equipped with an endless chain or a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the old one using a fresh connecting link. As you turn the rear wheel, the new chain will seamlessly take its place (Fig. A).
