Product Usage

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

It is crucial to lubricate a new connecting link prior to joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type requires the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for precise application of Press Fit Outer Plates. For rivet-type links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R for accurate press fitting of the link plates and rivet pin head flaring to our specifications. Ensure chain sag is adjusted per your motorcycle's manual; standard sag with rider load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Prior to installation, consult your local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Inappropriate choice and usage can result in severe damage or injury.

2. To remove the old chain, cut it at the joint. If an endless chain or Rivet-type link (ZJ) was originally installed, use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar device.

3. Link the new chain to the end of the old one using a fresh connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to guide the new chain into position (see Fig. A).
