• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the chain (see Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), the open end of the clip should face the opposite direction of the chain drive (see Fig. C). The FJ-type link has Press Fit Outer Plates that need the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to secure them. For Rivet-type links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the plates and precisely rivet the pin heads according to our specified flare dimensions. When adjusting the chain sag, refer to your motorcycle's owner's manual. The standard sag, when riders are on the motorcycle, is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure compatibility with your motorcycle. Using an incorrect chain or link can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the existing chain at its joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel, which will guide the new chain into position (see Fig. A).
