Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

To ensure the optimal performance and longevity of your chain, it is crucial to lubricate the new connecting link before linking both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link includes Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head in line with our recommended flare dimensions. When adjusting chain sag, always follow the recommendations in the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag, when loaded with the rider's weight, is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify whether this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain (refer to Fig. A).
